2011 has been a year of ups & downs and a big thank you to all Rucksackers! We owe this award to all of you who have stayed and voted for us! We are so humbled by your love and support and will continue to bring the best experience for your stay in Singapore. Stay tune for new tours and activities at the Rucksack! Stay real always.
The Chingay Parade 2012 featured the first ever water parade in its history. This years parade dazzled the 20,000 crowd with spectacular cultural performances from various countries. The Chingay Parade first began in Singapore 40 years ago when firecrackers were subsequently banned during Chinese New Year. In order to keep the celebrative spirits, the Chinese organised a simple procession where they played music and cheered. The parade has carried on since then. Those of you looking at attending this spectacular show next year, tickets can be ordered through us and it will be another Rucksacker's outing on the calender in 2013! See you then!

Tossing of the “ Chinese spaghetti” as one guest named it, was held last night at Rucksack Inn 2. Correct term is ‘Yu Sheng’. It was a fun filled night starting off with some local delights of Satay and Chic wings, followed by a few rounds of Pictionary which some of the drawings were indescribable! Because the drawings were too horrible to make any guesses (we blame it on the Vodka!) we ended up playing Charades with our Pictionary cards! Finally, it was a battle on the Xbox Dance Central 2. Check out our Facebook page for more pictures!

What is Lo Hei?
Yú sheng is served as an appetizer to bring good luck for the new year and is usually eaten on the seventh day of the Chinese New Year. In a tradition known as "lo hei" (Cantonese 捞起), families and friends gather around the table and toss the shredded ingredients into the air with chopsticks while saying auspicious wishes out loud to mark the start of a prosperous new year. It is believed that the higher you toss, the greater will be your fortunes.
Rucksackers are in for a treat this coming Wednesday, 18th of January. All guests are invited to experience the Chinese tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year.
